The Suzuki XL7 saw big changes in 2007. Instead of riding on a stretched Grand Vitara platform, this Suzuki received General Motors underpinnings and a powerful (252 horsepower and 243 ft-lbs of torque) 3.6L V6 DOHC engine. It continues to be offered in a variety of trims, and has both front- and all-wheel drive variants.

The basic XL7 seats five and is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission, alloy wheels, roof rails, power mirrors, power locks, cruise control, a security system, automatic climate control, and a CD player. The Luxury trim adds larger wheels, heated leather front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Third row seating for seven can be added to either of these models.

The Special trim has the third row standard, along with a self-leveling rear suspension, front and rear automatic climate control, remote engine start, and a DVD-based entertainment system.
